Receives Funds & Donations
Bastyr University, Kenmore, WA, has received funds from the Vitamin Antitrust Settlement of October 2000. Dr. Sheryl Berman and Diane Spicer received approximately $91,000 for a year long research project entitled, “Examination of safety, viability and speciation of Lactobacillus dietary supplements in the State of Washington.” The work will sample Lactobacillus supplements found on shelves through­out the state of Washington.
In other news, Aboca USA, Seattle, WA, has made two donations to Bastyr University for the study of herbal medicine. Massimo Mercati, president, Aboca USA, presented a $7,500 research grant to Dr. Janet Woods, vice president for university advancement and $1,000 to Robin Dipasquale, chair of the botanical medicine department, for use as a scholarship.
